In 15 of 22 Arab countries, Thursday was announced as Eid al-Fitr.

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Yemen, Jordan, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Syria, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Tunisia, Algeria and Iraq's Sunni are the countries which announced Thursday as Eid.

Shiah of Iraq announced Thursday as 30th day of Ramadan, whereas Egyptian office of mufti stated the day as first Eid day.

Saudi Arabian state television channel al-Ahbariyya stated also the day as Eid, what Qatar and Morocco's Religious Affairs also stated.

Yemen, Bahrain, UAE, Algeria, Amman and Kuwait also declared the day as first Eid day, the same announced in Syria and Jordan. Palestine, in a statement of Jerusalem Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Hossein, Lebanon's Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani and Tunisian Republican Mufti Hamda Said, Libya's Mufti office and Sudanese Islamic law academy announced Thursday as Eid.

Iraq, having two different Sunni and Shiah practices in the country announced the day differently. Sunni Sheikh Ahmad Abdelghaffar as-Samerrai stated the day was the first day of Eid, whereas Shiah Sheikh stated it was still the 30th day of Ramadan.
