Turkic journalism congress gets underway in Russia

ANKARA

 A four-day meeting of journalists from the Turkic world is underway in Russia’s Tatarstan republic.

More than 100 Journalists from 20 countries arrived in Kazan on Tuesday to work towards bolstering media cooperation between Turkic countries at a congress jointly organized by the International Federation of Journalists and Tatarstan's TATMEDIA.

The opening saw Anadolu Agency and other leading Turkic media outlets honored with the Turkish World Press Award. The other recipients were TRT Avaz, TATMEDIA, the Press Council of Azerbaijan, Macedonia’s New Balkan newspaper, the Europe Media group from the U.K. and the Union of Turkish Young Communicators.

A series of workshops are to be held on Turkish geopolitical structure, developing contacts and journalism in Turkic nations.

The Communication and Cooperation in Eurasia event, for which Anadolu Agency is global communications partner, will conclude with the presentation of the Turkic World Media Awards.
