AA Director General visits BBC

Anadolu Agency's (AA) Chairman and Director General Kemal Ozturk on Thursday visited British media giant BBC's headquarters in London.

BBC Global News' Controller of English Richard Porter and Asia Pacific Region Head Behrouz Afagh met with Ozturk at the BBC World Service.

Ozturk, who received information regarding the BBC's structure, informed senior staff members about Anadolu Agency's "centennial vision" .

During his visit, Ozturk also expressed his displeasure with the BBC's coverage of last summer's Gezi Park protests. 

He also talked about the agency's multilingual broadcasting saying, "We doubled our strength in the Middle East and got much more clout in the region once AA published the Syria (torture) photos."

AA's London office to open Friday

Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc and Ozturk will officially open AA's London office on Friday afternoon. Representatives from international organizations, UK politics and society will also attend the opening ceremony.

AA London will cover news from across the UK and is set to become one of Europe's most important news gathering centers, while also contributing heavily to the agency's English broadcasting services.

AA's "Centennial Vision" aims to become one of the world's top five agencies by 2020.
