Turkish Airlines' passengers surpass 28 million mark

ISTANBUL

The number of passengers on Turkish Airlines increased 8.5 percent in the first six months of 2015 from the previous year, according to a stock exchange filing on Tuesday.

The traffic results released on the Borsa Istanbul Public Disclosure Platform show an increase of 2.2 million to 28.5 million passengers from 26.3 million passengers in the same period of 2014.

Passenger numbers on domestic routes were up 11.2 percent, whereas international routes saw an increase of 6.6 percent.

The number of flight destinations rose to 276 from 257 of June 2014, with domestic destinations up to 48 from 43 and international destinations up to 228 from 214.

The number of aircraft was also up, increasing up to 282 from 257 compared with the first six months of 2014.
