The San Antonio Spurs won the third game of the National Basketball Association Finals series against the defending champions Miami Heat, on the latter’s home court on Tuesday night, taking a 2-1 lead.
The San Antonio Spurs started the game hot, hitting 13 of their first 15 shots, and scored a total of 41 points in the first quarter alone, as they led Miami by 16 points in their American Airlines Arena.
The Spurs continued to share the ball, finding the open shots for an NBA Finals record of 75.8 percent shooting in the first half.
The Spurs were led by Kahwi Leonard who scored 29 points, shooting 10 for 13 from the field. Danny Green contributed with 15 points, on a 7-for-8 shooting night.
Meanwhile, Heat superstar Lebron James scored 22 points and dished out 7 assists but he committed a Finals career-high 7 turnovers.
Dwayne Wade's 22-point and Rashard Lewis' 14-point performances were not enough to stop the Spurs.
If the Spurs win the next game, they will take a commanding 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series in their quest for a fifth NBA title.
The fourth game of the series will be played in Miami on Thursday, at 9 p.m. local time (02:00GMT).
