The certificate ceremony of the training, which was held between 2-13 October to train operational reporters who will take part in war, disaster and emergency situations, was held at the Police Academy Anıttepe Campus.
Speaking at the ceremony, AA Academy Director Alptekin Cihangir İşbilir wished God's mercy to the journalists who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Stating that the main purpose of war correspondent training is "protection", İşbilir stated that the training is given by experts.
Noting that 3 foreign trainees assigned to the region had to leave the training due to the Israel-Palestine conflict, İşbilir said, "There is a great effort. Training is given with the serious preparation of our police force, AFAD and Anadolu Agency." said.
İşbilir thanked everyone who contributed to the training.
"It has content beyond war reporting"
Vice President of the Police Academy, 1st Class Police Chief Assoc. Dr. Ufuk Ayhan also stated that they updated the war correspondent training protocol, which dates back to 2012, in 2015 and brought it to an international format.
Explaining that the training is the product of a multi-stakeholder study, Ayhan pointed out that the training has a content beyond war reporting.
Reminding that they have organized 23 semesters of training so far, Ayhan said, "A total of 508 people graduated. Of these 508, 319 are local and 189 are foreign media members. We have graduated people from 44 different countries. This number needs to be increased even more." he said.
Ayhan thanked AA, AFAD and police members who contributed to the training.
