Speaking at the opening of the workshop held within the scope of "Disaster Journalism Training" at AAtölye, AA News Academy Director Dr. Cihangir İşbilir said that a good reporter is a good reporter everywhere, and he adapts to the field by working against the background of his place.
Stating that the media has an important role in making the society and cities resilient before disasters, Dr. İşbilir said that journalists raise public awareness with the files they prepare before disasters occur.
Emphasizing that the media has a role to play at every stage, before, during and after the disaster, Dr. İşbilir said that the media does not only observe and monitor, but defend citizens, civilians and values with file news.
The experience gained in the earthquake will be shared with foreign journalists
Uğur Tanyeli, Head of TİKA's Foreign Relations and Partnerships Department, also stated that the workshop was important in terms of understanding what happened in the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake that took place on 6 February.
Tanyeli stated that many experiences were gained with the earthquake in which the painful events took place, "We considered it our duty to share these experiences with our journalists from abroad." said.
Tanyeli stated that press workers have a great responsibility in disasters and pointed out that the use of social media by journalists is also important in this sense.
Within the scope of Disaster Journalism Training, participants will receive training at AAtölye and AFAD for one week. Participants will also make corporate visits and cultural trips.
