ANKARA
Anadolu Agency has begun accepting preliminary applications for its War Journalism Training Program, which is being jointly organized with the Turkish Police Academy.
The applications will be accepted from Feb.1 to Feb. 20.
The program, which aims to train journalists who will work in war, disaster and emergency situations, will include theoretical and practical lessons in which the training will be given by experienced journalists of Anadolu Agency and experts from the General Directorate of Security, Police Academy, the Turkish Armed Forces, and the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
The training will be provided by expert law enforcement officers, soldiers and other public officials in 26 areas including journalism, personal safety, war law, first aid, advanced driving techniques, surviving in the water, chemical and biological attacks, and media management in emergency situations.
Media representatives who do not have a chronic or physical illness, travel restrictions or mandatory military service requirement and are under the age of 40 and can present a medical report stating that they meet the necessary health conditions as well as graduates of the faculty of communication and radio-television departments of colleges can apply.
At the end of the training, successful participants will be awarded a "War Journalism Certificate" with international validity.
Preliminary applications for war correspondent training to be held in Turkish and English will be evaluated on Feb. 21-28. Selected participants for the training will be announced on March 1.
