Through the program, journalists who will be covering conflicts, disasters, and emergencies receive theoretical and practical training from expert police officers and military personnel in their respective fields.
The training includes 25 participants: 9 from AA and 16 from Laos, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea.
On the 7th day of the program, trainees received training on “vehicle safety” and “advanced driving techniques” from the Traffic Directorate of the General Directorate of Security to enable them to drive safely.
On the 8th day, the trainees also received training from teams of the Special Operations Directorate at the Gölbaşı facility on topics such as “weapons ballistics,” “kidnapping,” “hostage-taking,” and “checkpoints.”
From the evening of that day until the morning of the following day, in the field where the special operations police were trained, they received instruction on “deployment,” “ambush,” “methods of protecting against ambushes,” “route planning,” “nighttime navigation exercises,” “shelter construction,” “protection against the cold,” “protecting equipment from rain,” “procedures for night raids,” and “recognizing gunshot sounds,” as well as “personal security infiltration course” training.
On the 10th day of the training, the trainees received instruction from AFAD teams on natural disasters. The trainees also participated in an earthquake simulation, gaining hands-on experience with the steps to take in the event of a panic.
Subsequently, AFAD personnel provided hands-on training on how to safely board and disembark from a helicopter in the event of a potential evacuation. Personnel from the Directorate General of Aviation also participated in the training.
Tomorrow, the trainees will receive theoretical and hands-on training from bomb disposal experts at the Criminal Affairs Directorate on “explosives,” “landmines and booby traps,” and “hazardous areas.”
The training will conclude on Friday with a “certification ceremony and closing program.”
