The “Data Visualization” session of the training was delivered by Chief Graphic Designer/Publisher Kemal Delikmen at the AA Istanbul International News Center .

Delikmen provided information on “Fundamental Principles of Graphic Design,” “Applications and Tools Used in Data Visualization,” and “Chart and Table Styles.”

Delikmen emphasized the importance of colors, harmony, and combinations in visual communication theories and explained hierarchy and composition theories in graphics.

Delikmen stated that symmetry, asymmetry, radial, and mosaic balances make it easier to read and perceive visuals, and gave examples of color, size, typography, form, direction, texture, and area contrasts.

Delikmen stated that visual elements in designs support news stories and said that illustrations should be realistic and detailed.

Emphasizing the importance of visual design in news, Delikmen also showed examples of AA's visual designs featured in the world press.

Training program

The Digital Journalism Training program aimed to equip media professionals with the fundamental principles of digital journalism.

Participants have gained comprehensive knowledge on digital literacy, news value, strategic planning in digital news, platform-specific content production, digital news design, data visualization, and the use of artificial intelligence in journalism.
