Polish energy company PGNiG-ORLEN is planning to drill its third exploration well in Libya in November, the country's National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced Tuesday.
The announcement followed an annual technical meeting between NOC's Exploration Department and PGNiG-ORLEN in Tripoli to review progress in exploration and appraisal activities and discuss the latest operational developments.
The meeting brought together NOC's exploration director, PGNiG-ORLEN's Libya branch general manager and exploration director, along with technical experts from both companies and representatives of the Petroleum Research Center.
Discussions focused on completed technical studies and projects, remaining exploration activities in the company's operating area, and its proposed work program and budget for 2027.
PGNiG-ORLEN lifted its force majeure declaration in April 2024, according to NOC.
The company operates in Blocks 1 and 2 of Area 113 in the Murzuq Basin in southwestern Libya, covering approximately 5,500 square kilometers, under an exploration and production-sharing agreement signed with NOC in 2008.
According to ORLEN, the company made two natural gas discoveries in the area in 2013 and 2014.
