Mining firm Glencore announced that it will put up for sale one copper mine in Australia and another in Chile, according to a statement on Monday.
One of the world's biggest companies in commodities trade, the Anglo–Swiss multinational mining firm said it will sell its wholly-owned Cobar copper mine in Australia and Lomas Bayas copper mine in Chile.
The Cobar mine in Australia produces around 50,000 tonnes of copper and 1.1 million tonnes of ore per year, and the Lomas Bayas mine in Chile produces around 75,000 tonnes of copper cathode per year, Glencore said.
"The sale process is in response to Glencore receiving a number of unsolicited expressions of interest for these mines from various potential buyers," the statement read.
The company noted it would announce an update if a sale on the mines is agreed.
