Türkiye and Kazakhstan are exploring concrete steps to deepen cooperation in hydrocarbon exploration, development and production, said the Turkish energy and natural resources minister on Thursday.
The two sides discussed practical cooperation between national energy companies TPAO and KazMunayGas, including potential joint projects, Alparslan Bayraktar said in a post on Turkish social media platform NSosyal after meeting with KazMunayGas CEO Askhat Khassenov in the Turkish capital Ankara.
"We are ready to develop joint exploration and production activities with our national companies in Kazakhstan's onshore and offshore areas, as well as in third countries," Bayraktar said.
"We aim to implement concrete projects that will advance the Türkiye-Kazakhstan energy partnership based on mutual trust and mutual benefit," the Turkish minister added.
Energy ties between the two countries gained new momentum last year when Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a memorandum of understanding on energy cooperation in Ankara, boosting cooperation in the Türkiye-Kazakhstan energy partnership.
