Türkiye and Canada are seeking to deepen energy ties, as Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar and Foreign Minister Anita Anand discussed strategic cooperation and investment opportunities.
In a statement shared on his Turkish social media platform NSosyal on Tuesday, Bayraktar said the two sides comprehensively addressed ways to further strengthen bilateral ties in the field of energy.
He noted that Türkiye and Canada attach great importance to deepening their complementary potential in energy and mining across a broader spectrum.
Bayraktar also underlined Türkiye's determination to take concrete steps toward cooperation in nuclear energy as soon as possible.
"We hosted Canada's Foreign Minister Anita Anand and her delegation at our ministry. During our meeting, we thoroughly discussed strategic steps and mutual investment opportunities that will further strengthen our long-standing relations in the field of energy," he said.
"We evaluated our shared goals, particularly in projects aimed at developing nuclear power plants in our country, as well as in oil and natural gas trade and critical minerals. We also expressed our determination to take concrete steps toward cooperation in nuclear energy in the near term," he added.
