Libya is set to host a major gas forum in December, which organizers believe could help the country connect Africa's producers with European markets.
The Libya-Africa International Gas Forum is set for Dec. 6-7 at the Rixos Al Nasr International Conference Centre in Tripoli, the organizers said in a statement on Wednesday.
The event is organized by IN-VR, with S&P Global Commodity Insights as knowledge partner, and is endorsed by Libya's Oil and Gas Ministry and National Oil Corporation (NOC).
Sessions will cover investment and infrastructure needs across the gas value chain, technology and exploration plans, and regional connectivity for exports.
Officials from the Gas Exporting Countries Forum are also expected, alongside project showcases and deal-making sessions.
Libya has about 53 trillion cubic feet, or 1.50 trillion cubic meters, of proven gas reserves, making it the fifth-largest in Africa. However, conflict and infrastructure issues have slowed investment and reduced exports.
