US energy giant Chevron Corporation announced on Friday that earnings reached $6.1 billion for the third quarter of 2021, compared with a loss of $207 million in third quarter 2020.
According to the company's statement, foreign currency effects increased earnings by $305 million.
In addition, adjusted earnings of $5.7 billion in third quarter 2021 rises, compared to $340 million in the third quarter of 2020.
US upstream operations earned $1.96 billion in third quarter 2021, compared with $116 million a year earlier.
Sales and other operating revenues in third quarter 2021 were $43 billion, compared to $24 billion a year-ago.
Commenting on the results Mike Wirth, Chevron's chairman and chief executive officer stated that the third quarter earnings were the highest since first quarter 2013 largely due to improved market conditions, strong operational performance and a lower cost structure.
