The Eurogroup will meet in Brussels on Monday to discuss non-performing loans, recent developments in the banking sector and the euro area’s fiscal stance for 2018.
The EU-Bosnia and Herzegovina Stabilization and Association Council will gather on Monday in Brussels to review the state of EU-Bosnia and Herzegovina bilateral relations.
The EU-Jordan Association Council will meet on Monday in Brussels. Federica Mogherini, the EU High Representative and Ayman Safadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, will co-chair the Council. They will debate on regional and international issues including the situation in Syria, Iraq and the Middle East peace process.
The Economic and Financial Council will meet in Brussels on Tuesday. Ministers will discuss a report on non-performing loans in the banking sector and review capital markets’ union action plan and the Estonian presidency’s work program.
The European Parliament’s Committee meetings will be held in Brussels this week. Ministers from the Estonian government, which holds the rotating EU Council Presidency for the next six months, will present their priorities in different policy fields to the committees concerned from Monday to Thursday.
An obligation for each EU member state to compensate emissions generated by land use, e.g. in agriculture and forestry, is up for a vote by the Environment Committee on Tuesday. The emissions must be compensated by an equivalent removal of CO from the atmosphere. The measures contribute to the implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change.
Plans to boost the use of organic and waste-based fertilizers will be voted by the Internal Market Committee on Tuesday. The rules would impose limits on heavy metals, such as cadmium, in these products, including imports. The aim is to reduce environmental impact, waste and energy consumption.

The Transport and Tourism Committee with CEOs of a number of EU airports, including Heathrow, as well as Michael O’Leary of Ryanair will discuss the impact of Brexit on the aviation sector and the tourism industry on Tuesday.
Finance Ministers Wolfgang Schäuble from Germany, Paschal Donohoe from Ireland, Pier Carlo Padoan of Italy and Jeroen Dijsselbloem from the Netherlands will appear before the Inquiry Committee on Money Laundering and Tax Evasion (PANA) to look into measures adopted in the follow-up to the Panama Papers’ revelations and action undertaken by the Commission in this field on Tuesday.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Brussels. Lavrov will meet with Mogherini on Tuesday and Belgium’s Foreign Minister, Didier Reynders, on Wednesday.
Constitutional MEPs will look at a proposal for the redistribution of Parliament’s seats on Wednesday as the current arrangement will lapse in 2019 while also taking into account the future withdrawal by the U.K. from the EU.

EU and Canada agreed to set a date for Sept. 21, 2017, for the provisional application of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. The Commission has sent three separate Statements of Objections alleging they breached EU merger rules by providing incorrect or misleading information to Merck and Sigma-Aldrich, General Electric and to Canon for allegedly implementing a merger before notification and clearance.
The European Commission has unconditionally approved the acquisition of Opel by Peugeot, under the EU Merger Regulation. The Commission concluded that the transaction would raise no competition concerns in the relevant markets.
The European Commission has approved Italy's plan to support a precautionary recapitalization of €5.4 billion to Italian bank, Monte dei Paschi di Siena, under EU rules, on the basis of an effective restructuring plan.
