Civil Liberties Committee will vote on Tuesday on a new law that adds the U.K. to the list of countries whose nationals do not need a visa to enter the EU and on whether EU citizens traveling to the U.K. are also exempt from visa requirements. The law will become applicable once the U.K. is regarded as a non-EU country.
The European Parliament plenary sessions that will take place in Brussels this week include an International Holocaust Remembrance ceremony on Wednesday. Parliament is set to debate the state of play on Brexit on Wednesday following the vote in the U.K. House of Commons on Tuesday, Jan. 29. MEPs are set to assess the latest developments in Venezuela and adopt a resolution on the subject. The final decision will be taken at the opening of the session on Wednesday.
Finland's Prime Minister Juha Sipila will debate the future of Europe with MEPs on Thursday.
Also on Thursday, MEPs will assess the current situation in Hungary and debate the developments since September 2018 in the country regarding the rule of law and fundamental rights.
Parliament will vote on Thursday on a series of changes to its internal rules, such as the reform of members' standards of conduct, including transparency rules and measures to prevent harassment, or parliamentary questions and interpellation. Key actors involved in the legislative process will have to publish online all meetings with interested representatives falling under the scope of the Transparency Register.
