China and Ecuador on Friday signed a cooperation plan on promoting the Belt and Road Initiative in Beijing, according to state-run media.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Ecuadorian counterpart Daniel Noboa witnessed the signing of the inter-governmental document after their meeting at the Great Hall in Beijing, Global Times reported.
Earlier, Noboa met with Xi, and the two leaders discussed bilateral issues and agreed to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including trade, economy, and investment.
Noboa arrived in China on Monday as the first stop of a 16-day diplomatic tour of Asia and Europe.
He also participated in the World Economic Forum’s 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, or the Summer Davos, in North China's Tianjin Municipality.
Xi also met with Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko in Beijing.
"China and Senegal are fellow partners and good brothers on the paths of development and revitalization. China is ready to strengthen unity and cooperation with Senegal to bring more benefits to the two peoples and inject more impetus into China-Africa friendship and Global South cooperation," Xi said.
