ISTANBUL
A 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck off Solomon Islands in the Pacific Ocean on Friday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.
According to the USGS, the quake occurred at 1427GMT 181 kilometers (112.4 miles) southeast of Kirakira, the provincial capital of the Makira-Ulawa province.
It originated from a depth of 8.7 kilometers (5.4 miles).
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, and no tsunami warning was issued.
The Solomon Islands are located in a region situated along the seismically active Pacific “Ring of Fire.”
