ISTANBUL
The first trilateral talks between delegations from Russia, the US, and Ukraine officially began on Friday in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates announced.
In a statement, the UAE Foreign Ministry said the talks started in the capital and are scheduled to continue over two days, “as part of ongoing efforts to promote dialogue and identify political solutions to the crisis.”
Earlier in the day, it was reported that informal talks between the delegation had been underway.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the trilateral talks at a session of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff also confirmed he would head to Abu Dhabi after talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
