Turkic states join hands to build satellites

Special team to build CubeSat, a small satellite that can carry science instruments into space

ANKARA

Turkic states have decided to establish a joint team of engineers to build satellites.

Mirzovkhid Azimov, deputy secretary-general of the Organization of Turkic States, told Anadolu that they held a productive meeting hosted by the Turkish Space Agency in Ankara.

At the meeting, they agreed to establish a technical research group for their CubeSat project. CubeSats are small satellites that can carry science instruments into space.

“The team will conduct the project at a research center in Kazakhstan, and our ultimate goal is to launch the CubeSat into space in order to research the environmental conditions of our member states and start some long-awaited studies,” he added.

‘Proud to see Türkiye send its 1st space traveler into space’

Azimov stated that they want to increase cooperation between universities and research centers on space research.

“Türkiye greatly contributes to the development of space cooperation within our organization. We were proud to see that Türkiye sent its first space traveler into space, and now they are going to launch the Turksat 6A satellite.

“Türkiye’s space experience will be useful for all Turkic states, as the country is ready to share its know-how,” he added.
