ISTANBUL
At least seven people were killed and 15 injured when a Russian ballistic missile strike targeted port infrastructure in Ukraine's southwestern Odesa region, authorities said Friday.
“This evening, the enemy again massively attacked a port infrastructure facility in the Odesa region with ballistic missiles. As a result of the strike, trucks in the parking lot caught fire,” Gov. Oleh Kiper announced on Telegram.
Kiper stated that 15 people were hospitalized and are receiving treatment, while the death toll remains at seven, according to preliminary information.
He noted that the work of emergency and operational services has been hindered by air alerts in the region.
The Odesa region has faced intensified aerial pressure in recent weeks, with rescuers from 12 regions currently deployed to the area to manage the aftermath of consecutive strikes.
Russian authorities did not respond to the claims and independent verification is difficult due to the conflict.
