Israeli army issues evacuation warning to residents of Lebanese capital ahead of attacks

Army orders residents of several neighborhoods in southern Beirut to leave immediately

ISTANBUL

The Israeli army issued immediate evacuation orders for residents in several neighborhoods in the Lebanese capital Beirut on Sunday, as Tel Aviv pressed ahead with its military campaign against Lebanon.

In a statement, army spokesman Avichay Adraee urged residents of Haret Hreik, Ghobeiry, Laylaki, Hadath, Burj al-Barajneh, Tahwitat al-Ghadir, and Shiyah “to leave immediately and not to return until further notice.”

He said the Israeli army will “forcefully operate” in these areas, citing what he called Hezbollah activities in the neighborhoods.

The spokesman threatened “to target anyone present near Hezbollah facilities, personnel, or military equipment in those locations.”
