Drone, missile attack targets Azadi camp in northern Iraq

Security sources say camp linked to Iranian Kurdish opposition group struck by 4 rockets, 2 suicide drones in Erbil

Erbil, Iraq

An attack Friday involving drones and rockets targeted the Azadi camp in northern Iraq, according to media and security sources.

The camp, affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran, came under attack in the Koy Sanjaq district of Erbil province.

The Erbil-based Rudaw Media Network cited security sources who said the assault occurred in the afternoon and involved four rockets and two suicide drones.

The broadcaster did not specify the party responsible for the attack and said it was not immediately clear whether there were casualties or property damage at the camp.

Eight Arab countries -- Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan and Iraq -- have been hit by Iranian attacks since Saturday, following the launch of military operations against Tehran by Israel and the US.

Iran said it is targeting “US interests” in those countries, though some of the strikes have caused casualties and damage to civilian sites, including ports and residential buildings.

At the same time, Tehran has launched missiles and drones toward Israel as part of its response to the Israeli and US strikes that have killed hundreds, including Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
