Bahrain says it intercepted 130 missiles, 234 drones since start of Iranian attacks

Bahrain's armed forces say air defense systems continuing to confront successive waves of Iranian attacks

ISTANBUL

The General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force announced Wednesday that air defense systems continue to confront missile and drone attacks that it claims were launched by Iran, confirming the interception and destruction of 130 missiles and 234 drones targeting the kingdom since the attacks began.

In a statement, the Bahraini armed forces said air defense systems are “continuing to confront successive waves of Iranian attacks,” and urged citizens to exercise the highest levels of caution to ensure their safety, stay away from damaged sites or any suspicious objects, and refrain from photographing military operations or debris impact locations.

It also stressed the importance of obtaining information from official sources and following official media outlets to stay informed about alerts and instructions issued by the relevant authorities.

The statement also added that the use of ballistic missiles and drones to target civilian facilities and private property constitutes “a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the UN Charter,” emphasizing that such attacks represent a direct threat to regional peace and security.

Regional escalations continued to rage as Israel and the US have continued a joint offensive on Iran since Feb. 28, killing so far around 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
