Six people were killed and 24 injured in Israeli airstrikes early Wednesday on residential apartments in central Beirut, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.
Lebanon’s Emergency Operations Center at the ministry said the preliminary toll resulted from two Israeli strikes on apartments in the Zoqaq al-Blat and Basta al-Fawqa areas of the capital.
Rescue teams recovered human remains from the sites of the strikes, with authorities saying the identities of the victims will be determined through DNA testing.
Two Israeli airstrikes also targeted Beirut’s southern suburbs, according to an Anadolu correspondent.
The Israeli army ordered residents of the southern Lebanese city of Tyre and nearby Palestinian refugee camps to evacuate on Tuesday, warning it would target sites it claimed were used by the Hezbollah group.
