5 Palestinians injured in Israeli army fire, occupiers' attacks across West Bank

Red Crescent reports 2 wounded in Tulkarem; Palestinian man abducted in Nablus

ISTANBUL

Five Palestinians were injured on Thursday evening in Israeli army fire and attacks by occupiers across the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian sources.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said its crews in the northern city of Tulkarem transported two injured men to hospital, including one shot in the leg with live ammunition and another wounded by live-fire shrapnel in the hand and thigh near the separation barrier in the town of Baqa, northeast of the city.

Separately, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa said an Israeli undercover unit abducted a young man after opening fire on him in the northern city of Nablus.

According to the agency, the force infiltrated the area using vehicles with Palestinian license plates and opened fire at a public vehicle carrying the man in the al-Basateen neighborhood before abducting him. His condition and the extent of his injuries remain unknown.

In the southern West Bank, anti-settlement activist Osama Makhamra said Israeli occupiers attacked Palestinians in the Masafer Yatta area, south of Hebron.

He said settlers assaulted shepherds from the Abu Sabha family in Khirbet al-Fakhit, leaving Mohammad Hamad Abu Sabha with a head injury and causing bruises to Hamza Ayoub Abu Sabha.

In recent weeks, illegal occupiers have stepped up attacks across the West Bank, killing eight Palestinians since late February, according to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.

Since the start of the Gaza war on Oct. 8, 2023, attacks by Israeli forces and occupiers in the West Bank have killed at least 1,133 Palestinians, injured about 11,700 others, and led to the arrest of roughly 22,000 people.

In a landmark opinion in July 2024, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
