LONDON
Poland on Thursday said it "strongly" opposes Israel's E1 settlement plan in the occupied West Bank, and reiterated support for a two-state solution.
The Israeli decision to approve the E1 settlement plan is a "clear violation of international law," according to a statement from the Polish Foreign Ministry.
"Poland supports a two-state solution that assumes the peaceful coexistence of Israel and Palestine within the 1967 borders," the ministry said.
Poland called on the Israeli authorities to cease their support for illegal settlement activity in the West Bank, saying: "We condemn all acts of aggression against the Palestinian people in this regard."
The statement added that Poland is also in contact with European partners regarding a coordinated response to the Israeli decision.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has approved the construction of 3,401 settler units in Ma'ale Adumim, east of Jerusalem, and 3,515 more in surrounding areas. The project aims to split the West Bank into two parts, severing connections between its northern and southern cities and isolating East Jerusalem.
