French court rejects bid to suspend Chinese retailer Shein’s marketplace

Decision comes amid France's demand to suspend platform due to discovery of illicit products

ISTANBUL

The Paris Court of Appeal on Thursday rejected France’s request to suspend Chinese retailer Shein's marketplace, according to the BFM TV broadcaster.

The court ruled that the marketplace will not be suspended after Paris demanded its suspension due to the discovery of illicit products.

By upholding the judicial court's earlier ruling, the court of appeal said in a statement that "the harm that had justified the State's action no longer existed."

Shein blocked its marketplace in France to conduct a full audit following the discovery of "sex dolls resembling young girls," along with prohibited weapons and medications.

Although the platform was gradually reopening in early 2026, Shein's corrections did not satisfy Paris request for a total suspension of the site.
