Turkish foreign minister discusses regional turmoil with Iran, Egypt, Pakistan

The top diplomat also held separate calls with US officials

ANKARA

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Friday held separate phone calls with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, and US officials.

During the calls, Fidan and his counterparts discussed the latest regional developments and efforts aimed at ending the war, according to Turkish diplomatic sources.

The calls come as hostilities in the region have escalated since Feb. 28, when the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran, killing more than 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
