NEW DELHI
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke Tuesday to the leaders of Oman, Kuwait and Qatar, condemning violations of their “sovereignty and territorial integrity,” amid the conflict between the US, Israel and Iran.
Modi said in statements on US social media company X, that he spoke to Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani as well as Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah.
The leaders in separate calls discussed the evolving situation since Saturday when the US and Israel initiated airstrikes against Iran that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and 786 others, including school children.
Modi said he “condemned the violation” of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the three nations.
They also agreed that sustained diplomatic engagement was essential.
Modi said he and the Kuwaiti leader “underscored the significance of dialogue and diplomacy in restoring regional peace and stability.”
Earlier, Modi held similar calls with the leaders of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The weekend airstrikes also killed Iranian military and other officials.
Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting US-linked sites in Gulf countries, causing multiple fatalities, including six US service members and many others injured.
