The share of Chinese brands in new car sales in Russia fell to 44.7% in November, down from 54.2% in the same month last year, the head of Russia-based analytics firm Avtostat said.
Sergey Tselikov said on Telegram that 127,900 cars were sold in Russia last month.
"57,200 of the vehicles sold were
Chinese brands. The share of Chinese-made cars fell by 9.5 percentage points to 44.7% in November," he wrote on Telegram.
Tselikov said Lada’s share of new sales also decreased by 10 percentage points, while new Russian brands expanded their market presence.
He added that Belarusian brand Belgee increased its share from 2.65% to 6.5%, while the share of global brands imported through “alternative routes” rose from 6.9% to 13.2%.
Western automobile companies, which held market leadership in Russia until February 2022, withdrew from the country following the start of the war in Ukraine.
New car sales in Russia, which had stalled, have begun to recover, driven by higher Chinese exports and increased domestic production.
