Blaze forces evacuation at Hong Kong airport

30 people evacuated in fire that shut down several boarding gates; no injuries reported

ISTANBUL

A blaze in a room near a boarding gate Tuesday at the Hong Kong International Airport forced evacuations, according to the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post.

The Fire Services Department was notified of an emergency report at 3.03 pm (0703 GMT), and the fire was extinguished by 4.01 pm (0801GMT).

Thirty people were evacuated, according to the department.

Several boarding gates were temporarily closed due to the fire, but no injuries were reported, said the Airport Authority.
