2 killed in collapse during school renovation in eastern Moscow

1 person remains under rubble, with rescuers working to pull him out, says Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry

MOSCOW 

Two workers were killed when concrete floor slabs collapsed during repairs at a school in eastern Moscow, Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry said on Saturday.

Another worker remains trapped under debris, with rescuers working to pull him out, the ministry said in a statement.

The collapse affected four floors of the building. At the time of the incident, there were no students present as the school was undergoing renovation, it noted.

The Moscow City Prosecutor’s Office has taken control of a preliminary investigation into the cause of the collapse, it said.
