ISTANBUL
United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump on regional security developments amid rising Middle East tensions, a state news outlet reported early Monday.
Emirates News Agency (WAM) said the two leaders reviewed "the blatant Iranian attacks on the territory of the UAE and a number of brotherly countries in the region" and assessed their implications for stability.
It said the conversation also addressed broader regional developments and their potential impact on regional and international peace and security, with the two sides exchanging views on the evolving situation.
Regional tensions escalated Saturday after the US and Israel launched an attack on Iran, killing several top Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran retaliated with a series of drone and missile attacks that targeted Israel, US assets, and several Gulf countries.
