ISTANBUL
US President Donald Trump on Friday urged for the Department of Justice to reveal the identities of "all" Democrats who have had relations with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
"The Dems are the ones who worked with Epstein, not the Republicans. Release all of their names, embarrass them, and get back to helping our Country!" Trump said on his social media company Truth Social.
Referring to a recent Justice Department announcement that more than 1 million additional pages of documents related to the disgraced financier had been uncovered, Trump said the "DOJ is being forced to spend all of its time on this Democrat inspired Hoax."
"When do they say NO MORE, and work on Election Fraud etc. The Dems are the ones who worked with Epstein, not the Republicans," he said.
Calling the long-running Epstein investigation "Just another Witch Hunt," Trump claimed that the "Radical Left" wanted to prevent discussion on "TRUMP & REPUBLICAN SUCCESS."
The Department of Justice had said Wednesday that it had received more than 1 million additional documents potentially related to Epstein.
In a process it said could take "a few more weeks," the department said its lawyers were reviewing the documents "around the clock to review and make the legally required redactions to protect victims."
The department said it would release the documents "as soon as possible" after the review as part of its obligations under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which was signed into law on Nov. 19, as well as existing federal statutes and court orders.
Epstein was found dead in his New York City jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
His victims have alleged that he operated a sprawling sex trafficking network that was used by members of the wealthy and political elite.
The Epstein case has remained a politically charged issue in the US, with lawmakers and victims’ advocates from across the spectrum demanding greater transparency about his network of associates and any individuals who may have facilitated his crimes.
