ISTANBUL
US President Donald Trump said Monday that he would issue a single set of rules to govern artificial intelligence across all of the country's 50 states.
"There must be only One Rulebook if we are going to continue to lead in AI," Trump said in a post on his social media company Truth Social.
"We are beating ALL COUNTRIES at this point in the race," he said, underlining that this lead would not last if all states are "involved in RULES and the APPROVAL PROCESS."
Fragmented state-level regulations would lead to AI being "DESTROYED IN ITS INFANCY," the US president added.
To prevent this, Trump said he would issue a "one rule" executive order this week.
"You can’t expect a company to get 50 Approvals every time they want to do something. THAT WILL NEVER WORK!" he added.
