Police probe shooting in Washington, DC park

US Park Police says it is investigating shooting; 1 injured, no ongoing threat as authorities close area

WASHINGTON

The US Park Police said Friday it is investigating a shooting at the Anacostia Park Skating Pavilion in Washington, DC. where one person sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers responded around 1.15 pm to reports of gunfire near the park’s skating pavilion, said the agency.

It added there is “no known threat to the public,” and the park has been closed as the investigation continues.

Local media reported the shooting occurred near an Eid al-Fitr event in the park.

Witnesses cited by FOX 5 DC said multiple shots were heard, prompting people to flee the area.
