Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday awarded Reem Al Hashimy, the United Arab Emirates’ minister of state for international cooperation, with the Order of Princess Olga, first class, for her major role in helping Ukraine and its people during the war.

Zelenskyy said the UAE has repeatedly acted as a mediator in securing the release of Ukrainians held in Russian captivity and has provided significant humanitarian assistance to families and children affected by the conflict.

“We are grateful to every country and to everyone who truly supports our people. The United Arab Emirates has repeatedly acted as a mediator in securing the return of Ukrainians from Russian captivity. We also value their significant humanitarian initiatives, support to Ukrainian children and families, and bilateral cooperation,” he said on Telegram.

He added that Ukraine looks forward to continuing its active cooperation with the UAE.

Hashimy on Saturday led a delegation from her country on a visit to Ukraine.

During the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war, which is approaching its fourth anniversary, the UAE has helped facilitate prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine and sent humanitarian aid to affected areas.
