MOSCOW/ISTANBUL

Russian President Vladimir Putin began on Tuesday a meeting with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner at the Kremlin, aimed at finding a solution to end the Ukraine war.

Opening the meeting, Putin expressed hope that Witkoff and Kushner had a chance to see Moscow beforehand.

The meeting is being held in a narrow format. The US side is represented only by Witkoff and Kushner, while the Russian side, besides Putin, includes presidential aide Yury Ushakov and special envoy Kirill Dmitriyev.

The US delegation is expected to present a revised peace plan meant to end the fighting in Ukraine that continues since February 2022.
