BEIJING

The head of Turkey’s disaster preparedness agency met on Wednesday with a top Chinese disaster response official in the capital Beijing.

During the meeting, Mehmet Gulluoglu, the head of Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Agency, told Zhang Xiaoning, deputy head of the National Disaster Reduction Centre of China (NDRCC), about Turkey's experience providing help to disaster-hit areas, heading off disasters, and practices in recent years.

Xiaoning also told Gulluoglu about his institution's work preparing reports on disasters, preventing disasters, and the institution's international cooperation and education activities.

Both sides said they hope to do information exchanges, enhance technology sharing, and boost both countries' ability to head off and lessen the effects of disasters.

Gulluoglu also visited the NDRCC headquarters and saw the work it does.
