ISTANBUL

Turkish defense and vehicle firm Katmeriler and Malaysian defense firm Deftech signed a cooperation agreement on Thursday to jointly produce and export EREN 4x4 armored vehicles at the 2025 International Defense Industry Fair in Istanbul.

The EREN 4X4 is a fast, powerful, dynamic, highly maneuverable, ergonomic, and versatile vehicle with simple maintenance.

The deal was signed by Katmerciler CEO Mehmet Katmerci and Deftech CEO Mohammad Shanaz. The agreement covers joint production of the EREN 4x4 in Malaysia as well as exports from the country.

Katmerciler, a land vehicle manufacturer, is participating in IDEF with its 4x4 Mine-Resistant Armored Vehicle HIZIR, the most powerful combat vehicle in its segment in Türkiye, and attracting attention for its high export potential, as well as its Medium Class Level 2 Unmanned Ground Vehicle (O-IKA 2) Remote Controlled Firing Platform (UKAP), Türkiye's first example of a remote-controlled, tracked, and unmanned ground vehicle (UGV).

The 17th edition of the six-day defense fair IDEF, starting on Tuesday, is being held simultaneously at the Istanbul Fair Center, Ataturk Airport, Wow Hotel, and Atakoy Marina.

The event, organized by KFA Fairs with support from Türkiye's Defense Industries Secretariat (SSB) and the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, has Anadolu as its global communication partner.
