Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Sunday met with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi and Iraq's Finance Minister Rafea al-Issawi who have attended a congress meeting of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party in Ankara.
Turkish diplomatic sources close to the meeting quoted Davutoglu as telling the Iraqi officials that the Iraqi delegation was the largest to attend the AK Party congress in Ankara, which the Turkish minister said showed the level of relations between the two countries.
Sources said Davutoglu had conveyed Turkey's readiness to extend support to Iraq in solving the country's problems within a constitutional framework.
Davutoglu also met separately with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Services Salih al-Motlaq and Mustafa Yaqubi, an aide to Iraq's Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.
Motlaq told the Turkish minister that Iraqi government prioritized improvement of ties with Turkey as Davutoglu underlined that Turkey had good relations with all groups in Iraq including the country's Shiites.
In his meeting with al-Sadr aide, Davutoglu said Turkey has engaged in dialogue with all Iraqi groups regardless of religion, language, ethnicity or religious sect.
