Turkey's aid agency donated medical equipment to a hospital in the Serbian capital of Belgrade.

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) made the donations to a surgical unit of Zvezdara General Hospital.

Cagla Gultekin Tosbat, TIKA's coordinator in Belgrade, Tanju Bilgic, Turkey's ambassador to Belgrade, and Serbian Health Ministry Undersecretary Berislav Vekic attended an event on Tuesday to mark the completion of the project.

Speaking at the event, Bilgic said that TIKA has carried out projects worth around $3.43 million, adding, "Turkey and TIKA did this without expecting anything in return"

Bilgic also said that the cooperation between the two countries is at the highest level and Turkey is ready for cooperation in all fields.

Vekic said the good relations between the presidents of the two countries are positively reflected in the cooperation in every field, and they have made great progress in the field of health thanks to the support of TIKA.

Petar Svorcan, Deputy Director of the Zvezdara Health Center, said the hospital's surgeons will have a better working environment thanks to the project worth over $100,000.

Zvezdara Health Center presented a certificate of appreciation to Tosbat due to her contributions to the current project as well as for a previous one.

Among the equipments are high-tech medical devices with cameras allowing medical students to watch surgeries live as part of their education program.
