ANKARA (AA) - September 10, 2012 - Turkey has condemned Sunday's wave of terrorist attacks which killed more than a hundred people and wounded dozens in Iraq.
Releasing a written statement on Monday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Turkey was deeply saddened over the terrorist attacks waged in different parts of Iraq throughout Sunday, as well as the late-night bomb attack that hit capital Baghdad.
The ministry said Turkey strongly condemned the attacks and hoped for stability, peace and reconciliation in neighboring Iraq.
"These attacks once again show that the ongoing political tensions in Iraq provide a convenient environment for terrorists. We hope these painful incidents would urge Iraqi leaders to display immediate and further efforts for the establishment of peace and consensus in the country," the ministry said.
The statement also underscored that Turkey stood in solidarity with Iraqi people in their legitimate fight against terrorism.
