Turkey’s military has said that a total of 307 PKK members have been killed in counter-terrorism operations in southeastern Turkey since Dec. 15.
In a statement on Saturday, the Turkish General Staff said 18 more PKK terrorists were killed on Friday in southeastern Diyarbakir and Sirnak provinces where the army operations continue amid curfews.
The military stated that two of Friday's death toll were from Diyarbakir’s Sur district, under curfew since Dec. 2. Ongoing operations have left 70 terrorists dead in the district so far.
Meanwhile, 16 were killed in the Cizre district of Sirnak, which brought the total number of PKK terrorists killed in the area to 237.
During Friday's operation in Cizre, Turkish security forces disposed of six handmade explosives and removed 10 barricades.
In the Tutak district of eastern Agri province, three suspects were detained on charges of aiding and abetting the PKK terrorist organization. A number of Kalashnikov infantry rifles, ammunition clips, cartridges, shotguns and terrorist documents were seized during a search at the addresses of the suspects.
The military added that it detained one suspected Daesh member in southeastern Kilis province as the individual attempted to illegally cross from Syria into Turkey.
Last month, the Turkish president said more than 3,100 PKK terrorists had been killed in Turkey and northern Iraq. Around 300 soldiers, police and civilians have lost their lives since the conflict reignited in late July 2015, according to officials.
