Song contest finals of the 11th Turkish Language Olympics took place on Friday in Istanbul's Sinan Erdem sports hall, where Martin Yordanov from Bulgaria ranked the top.
The contest was held with participation of 2,000 students from 140 countries throughout the world. During the finals, students from 14 different countries including Moldova, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Senegal, Morocco, Philippines and US performed Turkish songs.
Martin Yordanov from Bulgaria came the first, Ayxan Bunyadzade from Azerbaijan the second and Guinevere Camacho came the third in Turkish Language Olympics song contest finals, organized by International Turkish Language Association (TURKCEDER) as part of International language and culture festival.
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag stated that these olympics made Turkish a world language and brand by saying, "Turkish not only connects our today with future and gives us accordance, but also is a bridge where our culture, civilization, religion and art runs over. To keep that bridge afloat means connecting past to future and carrying our own values over to the future."
