ANKARA
16th Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival's opening ceremony was held on Thursday at the State Opera and Ballet in the Turkish capital Ankara.
Turkish actors Yetkin Dikinciler and Lacin Ceylan hosted the opening ceremony of the festival. In the festival, which will last till May 16, 98 films from 40 countries will be shown. The theme of the 16th Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival is "Despite".
Turkish actresses Perihan Savas and Zeynep Aksu were given honorary awards, while singer/make-up artist Suzan Kardes was presented the Bilge Olgac Achievement Award in memory of Turkish female director Bilge Olgaç. Famous stage actress Yildiz Kenter was presented the "Theme Award" which was given for the first time since the beginning of the festival.
Flying Broom is a women’s organization working for enhancing gender equality consciousness, provide information and training to empower women, and contribute to the development of efficient policies to solve women’s problems.
