Turkey’s U22 wheelchair national team have become European champions after beating Germany 67-64 on Saturday evening.

The tournament final in Italian city of Udine saw Turkey protect their lead throughout the game.

Leading first quarter 22-21, Turkey went to the locker room 40-31 after the first half. Turkish youngsters continued their scoring edge in the third quarter and the final period to win the gold medal.

Mucahit Gunaydin scored 32 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Turkey, while Enes Bulut scored 20.

Turkey now won the tournament for the second time in a row.
